Help & Support
Paperfolio is a document scanner for iPhone and iPad. Scan papers, edit pages, and create PDFs on your device—no account required. Use the sections below or jump from the table of contents.
Requirements
- iOS: iOS 17.0 or later · iPhone or iPad
- Camera optional if you only use Import from your photo library
Getting started
Five steps from install to your first PDF.
- Open Paperfolio and complete the welcome screen if shown.
- From Home, tap Scan or Import to add pages.
- Adjust pages in the editor—crop, rotate, and enhance as needed.
- Create a PDF when you are ready. Paperfolio does not add a watermark to PDFs it creates.
- Use Share or your platform’s file picker when you want a copy outside the app.
Scanning, editing, and PDF creation work on your device. Core features do not require internet. Optional analytics (if enabled) needs a network connection.
Common tasks
Scan a document
Tap Scan on Home. Allow Camera access when prompted. Capture each page, then save or continue editing.
Import from Photos
Tap Import and select the images you want. Only the photos you pick are added to a document.
Re-enable the camera
If camera access was denied, open system settings for Paperfolio and turn Camera on, or use Import.
Export or share a PDF
Open your document, run export, then choose share or save through the system sheet.
Resume a draft
Home may show Resume draft when a saved draft is available.
Delete documents
Delete from the document screen, or use Settings → Delete all local documents to remove everything Paperfolio stored on this device.
Where your files live
Paperfolio stores scans and PDFs in private on-device storage. They are not automatically uploaded to a Paperfolio cloud or synced to an account.
- Device backup: OS backups may include app data according to your settings.
- Exports: Files you save outside the app stay where you put them; deleting in-app does not remove them.
- Delete all local documents removes Paperfolio-owned files on this device only.
Privacy and analytics
Scans stay on your device unless you export or share them. Analytics are off by default. Toggle optional anonymous usage analytics in Settings.
Full details: Paperfolio Privacy Policy. In-app copies live under Settings → Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Accessibility.
Send feedback (in the app)
Settings → Send feedback
- Notes are saved on this device unless you share them elsewhere.
- Attachments are optional and only sent after you confirm.
- Paperfolio never automatically attaches your library or scans.
- Do not paste sensitive document contents or passwords in feedback.
What Paperfolio does not do
This release—so expectations stay clear.
- No OCR — scanned PDFs are page images, not searchable text.
- No automatic cloud sync — no Paperfolio account or server backup.
- No export paywall for creating local PDFs in this release.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to try |
|---|---|
| Camera won’t open | Allow camera in system settings, or use Import. |
| Scan looks dark or blurry | Better lighting, steady hold, then enhance/crop in the editor. |
| Can’t save or export | Free device storage; export fewer pages or remove old files. |
| PDF missing after delete | Check Mail, Files, or the app you used if you exported earlier. |
| Slow with many pages | Large docs use more memory—export and archive when done. |
